Fore Street in Heavitree is located towards the east side of Exeter. It provides a mixture of independent as well as some more well known retailers to the well-established residential area around. Approximately 1.5m from the city centre this street has a variety of shops including a delicatessen, haircare, a gun shop, and a micro-pub. The Heavitree Pleasure Ground, that can also be closely found, has a range of activities including a children's playground, paddling pools, cafe, tennis, and bowling. Many community events take place here throughout the year. These can sometimes appear on the Exeter event's calendar .

Fore Street in Heavitree has always been a vital and major arterial road in to Exeter from the east. It’s alignment possibly of Roman origin. As well as all the daily commuter traffic, the street is also on a major route to the M5, Exeter airport, and the A30. Fore Street benefits greatly with frequent bus services due to this crucial part it plays in Exeter’s road network.

From East Wonford Hill, Fore Street continues its incline in to Exeter before splitting to go each side of the historic Livery Dole Almshouses and dropping down in to the city via Magdalen Road , another Exeter shopping area, or Heavitree Road. The latter being the principal route passing the site of the former police headquarters and magistrates court on its journey.
