Travelling To Exeter
Travelling to Exeter should be fairly simple to organise with the city being so central within the county of Devon. Exeter has two main-line train stations within the city and its own international airport right on the doorstep. Exeter is served well by road links with the M5 motorway terminating nearby and the Devon Expressway beginning. The Expressway then opens up the additional possibility of a ferry service just 45 minutes away in Plymouth.
By Rail
There are two main-line stations that branch out connecting Exeter to most major UK cities with a
journey to or from London taking about 2 hours and 20 minutes. The main lines operate
from the Midlands and the North and from London (Paddington).
By Air
Exeter Airport is situated on the outskirts of the city approximately 6-miles (20 minutes) from the centre. The airport operates scheduled services for domestic and international flights. It provides the area with the largest commercial airport attracting many thousands of passengers every week.
Travelling by Road
Exeter is served well by major road links. There are two main junctions (30 and 31) off the M5 motorway, one to each end of the city. The Devon Expressway provides good access to South Devon and the A30 on into Cornwall.
By Coach
National Express coach service operates from hundreds of different places across the country to Exeter. They also offer services to Europe and Ireland as well as to and from several UK airports.
By Sea
Ferry services from Plymouth to France and Spain operated by Brittany Ferries.
